Introduction / このシリーズについて
植物の繊細な造形の中に宿る、ミクロとマクロが交差する世界を写し取るシリーズ。アジサイやナズナといった草花を印画紙の上に置き、光を透かす。そこに現れる葉脈や花弁の筋は、人の血管のようでもあり、大河の流れや結晶、あるいは宇宙の姿のようにも見えてくる。小さなものを見つめることは、大きな世界を見つめること。フラクタルな構造を持つ植物の姿は、この世界のあらゆる現象が相似形を成していることを、静かに教えてくれる。それは、生命の形そのものを、混じり気のない光で映し出す試みである。
Botanicals is a series that captures the intersection of micro and macro worlds dwelling within the delicate forms of plants.
By placing flora such as hydrangeas and shepherd's purse directly onto photographic paper and allowing light to pass through, the revealed veins and petals begin to resemble human blood vessels, the flow of great rivers, crystals, or even the vast cosmos.
To gaze at the small is to gaze at the larger world. The fractal structures of plants quietly remind us that all phenomena in this world form self-similar patterns.
This work is an attempt to project the very form of life through the medium of pure, unadulterated light.
微視的な眼差しと宇宙の相似
Botanicalsは、身近な植物をフォトグラムの技法によって精緻に写し取ったシリーズです。印画紙の上に直接草花を配置し、光を透過させることで、肉眼では捉えきれないほど繊細なディテールを可視化しています。
このシリーズを制作しているとき、私の頭の中には「フラクタル」という言葉が去来します。小さな一房の花や一枚の葉の中に、宇宙全体の構造が内包されているような不思議な感覚。ミクロを深く見つめるほどに、マクロな世界が目の前に広がっていくその体験は、この世界の境界を曖昧にしていきます。
余計な情報を削ぎ落としたモノクロームの画面は、時にメゾチントのような静謐さを持ち、生きている植物が持つそのままの形を際立たせます。
静かな暗室の中で、植物の鼓動に耳を澄ませるように光を当てる。そこには、私たちの身体とも、流れる川とも、広大な宇宙とも地続きである生命の根源的な美しさが定着しています。

Microscopic Gaze and Cosmic Similitude
Botanicals is a series that exquisitely captures familiar plants through the technique of photogram. By placing flowers and grasses directly on the photographic paper and allowing light to pass through them, I visualize delicate details that the naked eye cannot fully grasp.
While creating this series, the word “fractal” often crosses my mind. It is a mysterious sensation, as if the structure of the entire universe is encapsulated within a single cluster of flowers or a single leaf. The more deeply I gaze into the microscopic, the more the macroscopic world expands before me—an experience that blurs the boundaries of this world.
The monochrome imagery, stripped of redundant information, possesses a serenity akin to mezzotint, accentuating the natural forms of living plants.
In the quiet of the darkroom, I apply light as if listening to the heartbeat of the plants. Fixed there is the primordial beauty of life—a life that is continuous with our own bodies, with flowing rivers, and with the boundless universe.
